"If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken yourself. If you want to eliminate all the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation."
~ Lao Tzu
I’d add that to “eliminate all that is dark & negative in yourself” may involve more than pushing it away, running as fast as you can from any negativity or bit of darkness that shows up in yourself. I find that carefully listening to what it has to show or tell you, leaning in and learning to balance these elements in oneself will serve you better than denying and pushing them away.
* Iodine – What do you know about it? Do you realize how much we need this nutrient in our diet and how lacking it is for a wide swath of the population, including in our country? We used to get a reasonable dose of it in our diets up until the 70’s but then the content dropped significantly and with it many people were subject to developing a slew of symptoms. It’s definitely an issue worth doing a bit of research on. We can get it through Iodized salt, fish, eggs, and different kelps are the best source for it. My friend Cathy A, who brought this to my attention the other day, mentioned she’d had great results for both her dogs using Proden Plaque Off It’s great for maintaining white teeth, free of tarter for dogs. A comparable product is also available for humans in a different dosage (see http://www.plaqueoff.com or through Amazon). Give it a try. The results are pretty outstanding. And consider doing a bit of research (here’s a place to start… http://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2011/10/the-silent-epidemic-of-iodine-deficiency/page-01 )
* FRIDAY – tonight - We’re having a House Concert here this evening if anybody would like to come join in. Sio and 3 friends of hers who are all in their 20+s will be playing, beginning at 7 PM - The first half will be classical music and the second half will be folk - blue grass - Americana. There is a door donation - The instruments being played are piano, violin, guitar and cello.
It’s casual and people need to bring their own chairs or blanket as the garden / lawn leaves something to be desired, due to the drought. Also, bring whatever you’d like to drink or eat. The evening will be enjoyable so please come join us if you’re free & bring a friend too, if you care to.
* SATURDAY – Come dance & hear the blues up at Cold Springs Tavern this Saturday – 5-8 pm – the more the merrier!
